George Clooney Proposed to Amal Alamuddin Over a Home-Cooked Meal: Report

Sounds like a recipe for romance! George Clooney apparently cooked up quite a night to propose to fianceeAmal Alamuddin last month. According to a new report from theNew York Post's Page Six, the Gravity actor, 52, popped the question to the human rights lawyer, 36, after whipping up a romantic meal at his mansion in Studio City, Calif., on April 22.
A source told Page Six that Clooney prepared the meal himself and then surprised Alamuddin by getting down on bended knee. "He was so happy she accepted, he was calling friends with the news later that night," the insider is quoted as saying.
The Post also reports that the husband and wife-to-be are eager to marry, and could tie the knot before this fall. "It's only four months away, but they want to get married at the end of the summer, in early September, before Amal returns to work," a second source told Page Six.
One night after the proposal, the couple celebrated their engagement at Craig's restaurant in West Hollywood. A witness told Us Weekly that the famed bachelor even shared his happy news with a fellow diner.
"This is the healthiest relationship I've ever seen George in," a source recently shared of the Oscar winner, whose exes include Elisabetta Canalis and Stacy Keibler. "He seems incredibly happy, and Amal is such a sweet and intelligent girl."
Clooney's parents are smitten, too. His mom, former beauty queen Nina Clooney, told the Daily Mail that Alamuddin is "a lovely girl." And his dad, broadcaster Nick Clooney, gushed to Us that he was "thrilled" about his son's engagement. "We have had an opportunity to interact with this wonderful young woman, and these are two great people," he said. "We are thrilled at their decision and we hope for them the best."
This will be the Argo producer's second marriage. He was previously wed to actress Talia Balsamfrom 1989 to 1993.
